Every Dog is Different
by Dylan Beckelman
It's true, every dog is different and they all have their own individualistic personalities. From the way they explore to the way they play, every dog is it's own individual. I never truly understood this growing up and being around dogs. Growing up I was told that dogs do not think, they do not have emotions, and they certainly do not remember what happened to them in the past. I couldn't have been more wrong! All I see now-a-days are dogs thinking, reacting with emotion, and being frightened of umbrellas because one fell on it when it was a puppy. Dogs are really just like people in the fact that they are conscious. The only difference is that we as humans are aware of our consciousness, and that has not exactly done many of us any favors. This makes me envy dogs in the way they live their lives. Canines are constantly in the present moment and taking in the whole world around them. Everyone could use some great life lessons from their dog. Every dog lives it's life similarly, except they each have their own personality and purpose. Much like people, dogs get the majority of their experiences from their puppy stages. This is why it is especially important to socialize and introduce the puppy to several new environments, people, and experiences. Then once they become full grown at around two to three years old, you have your individual. Observing the dog will only show you more in to their world and you will see that what one dog likes, another one may not. When I train, I assess the dogs personality and what motivates them in the manner that sets them up for the best chance for success. Have a shy dog? Confidence building and obedience training to the rescue! Have an intense, head-strong dog? Tug Play and Motivational Training will give the dog clear communication and a job to keep them busy as well as happy! There are several ways to train a dog but only one way will work best for each specific dog. That's my goal, setting up you and your dog for the best chance of success.
